A regulated profession is governed by legislation and a regulatory body that sets entry, registration and professional-practice requirements. Why students should check the regulator before the school

Schools describe their programs; regulators define entry to the profession. Before paying tuition, confirm that the program or education route is accepted for registration in the profession you want. This is particularly important for nursing, pharmacy, dental hygiene, medical laboratory technology, medical radiation and imaging professions, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation professions.

If a program is new, accelerated, private, online or delivered outside Ontario, verify recognition directly with the regulator rather than relying only on marketing language.

Regulation can create mobility obligations

If you later move to another province, your Ontario registration can support a labour-mobility application, but it does not mean you should assume automatic practice rights. The destination regulator controls the local registration process and may require an application, good-standing verification, fees or jurisdiction-specific requirements.
