TalentAid is designed to help people make career decisions without turning career exploration into a sensitive-data collection exercise. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Scope and Canadian privacy framework
TalentAid is a Canadian career-navigation service. Depending on where an organization operates and how personal information moves across Canada, federal and provincial private-sector privacy laws may apply. TalentAid's operating approach is to use reasonable data minimization, transparency, purpose limitation and consent practices across the service rather than relying on a single jurisdiction's minimum standard.
This policy is a product-level description of current practices. It does not replace a legal assessment of every jurisdiction in which TalentAid may operate.
Information we may collect
- Location preferences you choose, such as province or territory and optionally a city, so TalentAid can show local pathways and labour-market information.
- Account information if you register, such as the identifiers needed to authenticate your account and provide saved features.
- Career-plan information you intentionally save or submit to generate a career-navigation result.
- Anonymous first-party usage events, such as a career page viewed, a filter used, assessment progress or a program link clicked. The current analytics design uses a session identifier and is intended not to include direct identifiers.
- Advertising preference stored in your browser so optional advertising technology can remain off unless you choose to allow it.
Sensitive health information is outside TalentAid's purpose
TalentAid contains information about healthcare careers, but it is not a healthcare provider, health plan, medical-record service or clinical decision system. Please do not enter medical records, diagnoses, prescriptions, treatment details, health-card numbers, insurance information, clinician notes or other protected or sensitive health information into Career Advisor or other free-text fields.
We do not represent TalentAid as HIPAA compliant merely because the site discusses healthcare careers. If TalentAid's role changes in the future—for example, if it acts for a U.S. HIPAA covered entity as a business associate—applicable obligations would need to be assessed before protected health information is handled.
How information is used
- Provide career, pathway, program and location-aware features you request.
- Maintain account and saved-plan functionality when you choose to use it.
- Understand aggregate product usage, troubleshoot problems, secure the service and improve content quality.
- Remember your privacy and advertising choices.
- Meet legal, regulatory, security and recordkeeping obligations that apply to TalentAid.
TalentAid does not sell personal information to advertisers. Commercial relationships do not determine verified wages, licensing rules, regulatory status or pathway rankings.
Cookies, browser storage and advertising choices
Essential browser storage supports functions such as location preferences, session operation and privacy choices. TalentAid also uses privacy-conscious first-party analytics for product measurement. Optional advertising technology is gated by the advertising choice presented on the site.
Service providers, external links and processing locations
TalentAid may rely on technology providers to host, authenticate, operate, secure or measure the service. Where personal information is handled by a service provider, it may be processed outside your province or outside Canada depending on the provider and service configuration. Applicable contractual, security and privacy requirements should be considered before new providers are introduced.
Links to governments, regulators, educational institutions, employers and other third-party sites are governed by those organizations' own privacy practices.
Retention and safeguards
TalentAid aims to keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, for account or service operation, or as required by applicable law. Retention periods should be reviewed as features and vendors change.
Safeguards are selected based on the sensitivity and purpose of the information. TalentAid's product design reduces risk by avoiding collection of sensitive health records and by separating anonymous usage analytics from information users intentionally save to an account.
Your privacy rights and requests
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to ask about personal information TalentAid holds about you, request access or correction, withdraw certain consent, or raise a privacy concern. Some rights have legal exceptions and identity verification may be required before a request is fulfilled.

A verified privacy-officer contact has not yet been configured. This must be completed before final public launch; TalentAid will not publish a fabricated address.
Children and young people
TalentAid may be useful to students and young people exploring education and careers. The service should therefore avoid behavioural designs that pressure young users to disclose unnecessary personal information. Optional advertising remains separate from core career guidance, and sensitive health information should never be submitted.
Changes to this policy
